Question:
Hi, my husband and I recently replaced our windows. The old ones were either drafty or let in too much heat and we never spent much time near them. The replacements are actually comfortable and we think we want to put in a window seat somewhere. Where is a good place to put one? Is this something we can do ourselves or do we need to hire a carpenter? Thanks!

The Problem:
On one of the first days of spring, Suzie Diaz opened her Pella replacement window to let in the breeze. She was shocked by what she saw inside the window.

“The ledge was filthy,” she said. “When I looked, I nearly passed out.”

The wood in the Pella windows was crumbling with rot. It was so bad the Diazes were afraid the windows were going to fall apart…
